Farm
Ellwood Canyon Ranch is a 300-acre regenerative avocado ranch, fruit farm, and learning center on California’s central coast.
Family owned since 1979, Ellwood Canyon Ranch began adopting organic practices in 2005 and began introducing a wide range of regenerative farming practices in 2019.
On our farm we build soil, plant and water cycles that return nutrients to the earth and support carbon capture. We’ve added pomegranate groves to our avocado orchards to increase biodiversity; added cover crops and mulch to create a healthier soil microbiome; introduced babydoll sheep to graze and mimic wild patterns of migration; and launched ongoing research projects with University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB).
Our objective is to share everything we learn and implement on our farm with other farmers and create opportunities to collaborate. Why? Because we believe healthier land produces healthier plants, which fuel healthier people who build healthier communities – which in turn support a healthier planet.
